For those planning for next year's conference, proposals will be accepted between mid-January and mid-February.
Required Information
- Your name and BYUH email address.
- The name of your faculty mentor.
- The type of project that you are proposing.
- A 200-word abstract that describes your research project.
- Keywords related to your topic.
- Which field(s) of study best fit your research project.
Abstract Criteria
All proposals should include a 200-word abstract that describes the research project. The conference committee will assess the abstracts and accept high-quality research projects that follow the content criteria outlined below.
- Clearly defined research question and problem
- A literature review: Explore the existing knowledge on the topic
- Theoretical framework to inform the methodology
- Research design and methodology: Define the specific material that you will examine in the project
- Results and Discussion
- IRB approval for the project
- Working with a Faculty Mentor
Submitting Your Project for Awards Consideration
Each faculty unit on campus will present awards for excellent projects on all topics. Overall conference awards will also be given for projects that best address the conference theme.
To be considered for an award, your completed project must be submitted through the URC Canvas page by March 20. Awards will be announced during the conference closing ceremony at 4 pm on April 4.
Best Project in Social Work Award
Presented by the Social Work Program
1st Place: $250
2nd Place: $150
3rd Place: $100
Note: One (1) award is given to each winning entry. Prizes will be split among group members.
This award is given to the top three projects from Social Work. Projects must address topics relevant to the professional discipline of Social Work.
Students will be judged on:
- Originality and significance of research or ideas presented in the project
- Quality and rigor of methodology used
- Clarity and organization of the writing
- Relevance to the social work field
- Potential for future impact or contribution to the social work field
- Appropriate use and APA citations and references
- Overall quality and coherence of the argument or analysis presented
- Quality of figures, tables, or other visual aids used to supplement the project
- Connection to Conference Theme
- Presentation and overall professionalism of the final submission
Best Project in Education Award
Presented by the Teacher Education Program
1st Place: $250
2nd Place: $150
3rd Place: $100
Note: One (1) award is given to each winning entry. Prizes will be split among group members.
This award is given to the top three projects in Education. Projects must address topics relevant to the professional disciplines found in K-12 Education. Paper submissions and poster submissions will be considered for awards.
Students will be judged on:
- Originality and significance of research or ideas presented in the project
- Quality and rigor of methodology used
- Clarity and organization of the writing
- Relevance to the specific field or discipline
- Potential for future impact or contribution to the field
- Appropriate use and citation of sources
- Overall quality and coherence of the argument or analysis presented
- Quality of figures, tables, or other visual aids used to supplement the project
- Presentation and overall professionalism of the final submission.
