Required Information for proposal submission:

  • Your name and BYUH email address. 
  • The name of your faculty mentor. 
  • The type of project (oral presentation or poster) that you are proposing. 
  • A one- or two-paragraph abstract that describes your project. 

Abstract criteria

All proposals should include a one- or two-paragraph abstract that describes the project. The conference committee will assess the abstracts and accept high-quality projects that follow the content criteria outlined below.
    1. Clearly define a problem, opportunity, or debate in your field. 
    2. Explain how your project addresses the problem. 
    3. Define the specific material that you will examine in the project. 
    4. Include a clear, original thesis statement/argument. 
    1. Originality of the idea  
    2. Quality of research design   
    3. Interpretation of results  
    4. Presentation of findings   
    5. Clarity and quality of writing

Available Math and Computing Awards

1st Place: $250

2nd Place: $150

3rd Place: $100

The awards will be given to:

  • the top three math-related papers/posters, 
  • the top three computing-related papers/posters, and 
  • the top three construction and facilities management related papers/posters 

submitted by students associated with the Faculty of Math & Computing. If a winning submission was made by a group, the award funds will be split among the individuals of the group.
